I never saw it coming. It just happened.
I JUST FREAKING FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS MOVIE.
I was hesitant at first if I should watch it or not but I’m glad I decided to give it a try. When I started watching it I thought that it would be like the other romantic movies where the girl, after getting dumped by her boyfriend, gets really messed up, finds a way to get a hold of her life again and eventually ends up with some guy that sweeps her off her feet. Another damsel in distress is saved, another fairytale-like ending.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate these fairytale-like endings but I think I’m old enough to know that what happen in movies doesn’t really happen in real life. Lola versus is one of those movies that will caught you off guard. It’s raw and heartbreaking and it has a different kind of happy ending. Lola didn’t end up with anyone else instead she ended up loving herself. Finally realizing what she wants, having a new perspective on her life she told her ex-fiancée who wants them to get back together that she’s taken. True enough, Lola’s taken. She’s taken by herself.
The ending is real and honest and I guess that they are different kinds of happy ending and doesn’t really necessarily have to be a happily ever after with someone else kind of ending. Sometimes loving ourselves and finding balance in our life is enough reason to be happy.
"Cinderella is what messes girls up, because we all end up getting obsessed with shoes, and then we expect a man to put them on. I thought I was living a fairy tale." - Lola
P.S. This is one of those movies who has freaking great soundtrack!!!
“You don’t let people in. I’ve had to scratch and claw for every inch. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about us, about our relationship, what we have, where we’re headed. I’ve decided I want more. We both deserve more. So whatever happens, whatever you decide, Katherine Houghton Beckett, will you marry me?”
I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO FEEL ABOUT THIS.
This is what I’m talking about in my previous post that season 6 might be the last season of the show. Ryan and Jenny having a baby, Beckett’s FBI job then Castle proposing to her? Feels like the episode “Watershed” is the beginning of the end.
William Keck had a chance to talk to Stana about Beckett’s future. Here is what Keck said she had to say on the topic.
“If she drops the FBI gig, she’s a loser,” she says. “This is a modern woman’s story, and I don’t want to send the message that a woman has to choose love over a career. New York and D.C. are not that far apart, and Rick’s a millionaire. They can travel. I think it would really be a big disservice to the character to create a job opportunity like this and let it peter out.”
Katic offers this suggestion to Castle‘s writers to help keep the potential FBI agent connected to her NYC squad: “Bring the 3XK killer back, which requires Kate to put together her own team. Sometimes we’re all together in New York and sometimes we’re telling different stories apart. Kate can have it all!”
We can now actually have a conclusion on Kate’s decision about the FBI gig. But it doesn’t necessarily mean that she’ll say “no” to Rick’s proposal. Long engagement, anyone?
